3 of Our Favorite Ways to Organically Engage Online
(…Alternately titled: 3 Ways to Get More Ooohs and Ahhhs Online for Free)
True or False?
You’ve seen a slump in your small business’s organic reach on Facebook and other social platforms over the past year and even your typical top performing posts just don’t seem to have the gusto.
If you answered True, then you’re not alone. In fact, short of throwing promotional money at every post you share, you’re going to see a bit of decline due to those pesky algorithms (AKA what keeps the lights on at Facebook HQ.)
So, how can you combat the dreaded “dead in the water” post? Well, in a word – entertainment. Providing content that’s fun and entertaining to your followers is key. There are about a trillion (yes, we counted) ways you can go about doing this – but if you’re crunched for time (of course you are, entrepreneur) here’s 3 of our favorite ways to keep your followers clicking, reacting, & sharing your brand with their friends:
Quizzes
There’s no better way to spend a weeknight than arduously determining what kind of pizza topping you are. Creating simple and fun quizzes for your fans and relating them to your business is a FREE and entertaining method for engaging your followers. Visit Playbuzz for some free quiz templates, or try and build your own. Your fans will be painstakingly decoding what color their aura is before you know it! And they’ll be sharing the fun with their pals, too.
2. Memes
So, after what could be hours of creating thoughtful content for your business has been spent, you posted it, you were thrilled, your fans… were not. 57 views? WHAT? But that meme with a dog staring into the sunshine you shared while half-heartedly scrolling through your newsfeed… 3,212 views in 12 hours.
Memes, when curated consciously, can be a wonderful tool for keeping your fans engaged and entertained. We live in a world that wants facts, jokes, and fun shared in easy-to-digest (and even easier to engage with!) bits. Create fun memes of your favorite coworkers, a kitchen mishap, or something holiday related by using an image you have the rights to – and an app like Canva. Not into a little light graphic design? Keep your eyes peeled for appropriate memes that give you chuckle any time you’re online. Chances are if you think it’s a hoot, your fans will too.
3. Tag a Friend
People love nothing more than calling their friends out on their trademark behaviors. Ask your fans to tag a friend who loves to indulge in horrible TV, tag a pal who’s always running late (better order today’s special cocktail while you’re waiting!) You get the picture. Keep your posts light to avoid any social media drama on your page. You can also invite your followers to tag their friends to let them know about something special you have planned this month!
We could go on and on, but alas, there’s tweeting & double tapping to be done! Did you like these suggestions? Then you’ll love our Small Business Program.
