Perfecting Your Product Launch on Social Media

Social media is the perfect place and opportunity to launch your new product. Whether you’re an author, a fashion company, or a snack brand, social media will allow you to reach thousands of new people that traditional launches may not be able to do. Many businesses utilize social media, but without a clear product launch strategy, their posts fail to gain attraction. Here are some tips on how to perfect your product launch on social media to make it beneficial to your company:

  1. Determine Your Goal and Objectives Of The Launch
Never go into a campaign blindly. Know what you want to accomplish and define that. For example, you may want your launch to build awareness surrounding a product or you may want to gain new customers. Make sure to start with a goal so that you can funnel it down from there. Once you’ve set your goals, identify your key performance indicators. These can vary anywhere from likes to audience growth rate.

  2. Set Your Dates
It’s important to plan out specific dates surrounding your launch. Start with the day you want to release your product and work backward from that. You will want to create hype building up to the release date but then continue the hype post-launch. Breaking up your content and goals into days or weeks will help you to better plan your strategy…which is the next step!

  3. Build Out A Social Media Strategy
Start by establishing how many posts you want to go out a day/week/month and on what platforms they will be posted. Figure out who the audience is that you want to reach and how you will do that. For example, video content or hashtags may allow for a broader reach. Decide whether you will have a designated hashtag for the launch or a QR code posted somewhere offline. This is also a great time to plan out your creative design and branding for all of the posts that will go out. It’s important to try to stand out and grab attention, while still keeping the posts cohesive and aligning with the brand voice. Be sure to add countdowns to your stories or in-feed posts!

  4. Decide If You Will Use Influencer Marketing
Influencer marketing and campaign launches go hand in hand. Consumers love a human touch! If you’re not sure that your budget allows for influencer marketing, try partnering with nano or micro-influencers that are in your brand’s niche. Fun fact: they often have better engagement than larger influencers, and their rates are typically lower!

  5. Collect Your Content and Put It Into A Calendar
If your budget allows, hire a photographer to take high-quality photos for your product launch. If not, hold a content shoot yourself and get all the videos and pictures you need for a successful launch. Then curate graphics and assets from them. Work on captions to pair these assets and drop them all into your content calendar!
